Looking to get your kids outside while they are off from school? Register your aspiring scientists to follow in the footsteps of our marine biologist staff members as they learn the journey of our sea turtle patients through their recovery and what conservation tools they can employ to make sure no sea turtles get injured on their watch! All seasonal camp days correspond with The School District of Palm Beach County School Calendar 2018 - 2019. Cost: $60/day Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (Late pick-up, 5 p.m. is available for $10 more a day) Ages: 6*-10 years *Must have completed Kindergarten prior to registration

Manatee Lagoon is pleased to offer these Mindful Moments health and wellness classes to the general public, as part of its effort to serve the local community. As possible and weather permitting, all classes are offered outside alongside the beautiful Lake Worth Lagoon. On occasion, if indoor space is not available when the facility has been rented for a private meeting or event, a class may be canceled due to inclement weather. Rental of the facility helps offset the operating expenses of our center, which helps keep admission and parking free, and supports all of the special programs and events we offer. Manatee Lagoon is pleased to offer these Mindful Moments health and wellness classes to the general public, as part of its effort to serve the local community. Manatee Tales - Story Time
Listen as a Manatee Master storyteller reads from colorful books to tell stories about the amazing aquatic species that live in the Lake Worth Lagoon. Usually, a coloring or craft activity reinforcing the story theme is included. Children ages 2 to 5 are welcome. Manatee Lagoon requires that parents stay on site. Seating, as available, is provided as is free Wi-Fi. Registration is necessary only for participating children, not parents, and will open 2 weeks in advance of each Manatee Tales Story Time program.

Team Save Our Sisters Palm Beach County Dragon Boat Team
We are looking for Breast Cancer Survivors to join Team SOS PBC (Save Our Sisters Palm Beach County) Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team. Palm Beach County’s First and Only Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team.
Our Mission: To promote a healthy, active lifestyle and provide organized opportunities for physical fitness, wellness education, and psycho-social empowerment among Breast Cancer Survivors and their supporters through the sport of dragon boating.
Team SOS PBC members are from all walks of life and range in age from 30s to 70s with varied interests and fitness levels. Each of us is a powerful example that women can lead a full and vigorous life after treatment for breast cancer. SOS PBC offers an active, health-giving, life affirming opportunity for breast cancer survivors. We are a survivor group whose focus is on living, rather than on the disease that brought us together.
No experience necessary—we will train you!

Sunday Lecture Series
Are you looking for something different and interesting to do on a Sunday afternoon … something that is free and fun? Spend the best part of your afternoon on the first Sunday of each month at Manatee Lagoon and hear from a variety of interesting environmental personalities who happen to specialize in telling stories about really cool things – like the octopus population under the Blue Heron Bridge in Riviera Beach or know why manatees really do matter? Everyone is welcome on the first Sunday of the month, and other Sundays as noted on the calendar. Talks are scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. with time for a question-and-answer session afterward. We will exhibit field work conducted by our Manatee Masters, never-before-seen video and photography celebrating the ecosystem and the diverse and special aquatic life inhabiting the Lake Worth Lagoon and lots more. Ample seating is provided. Advance registration is encouraged, but we welcome walk-ins as well.

Join the Young Professionals of Palm Beach North for their quarterly professional development luncheon on Thursday, January 10 at Ruth's Chris Steak House in North Palm Beach.
When registering, please select your lunch option of grilled chicken caesar salad, seared ahi tuna salad or a steak sandwich with fries.
Our program will feature a panel discussion covering the topic of managing your finances for today and the future as a young professional. Panelists include Jenn King of Northwestern Mutual speaking on How to Create an Ideal Budget to Achieve Current and Future Goals, Cory Lyon of Fuoco Group speaking on the topic of What Challenges Come with Millennial Spending/Saving Strategies, and Scott Shrader of Vault Wealth Management speaking on the topic of Education and Understanding Your Money.
About the speakers
Jenn King works as a Financial Advisor for Northwestern Mutual, where she helps her clients to find relevance around what financial security means to them; helping to address risk management, wealth accumulation, and wealth preservation and distribution. Since joining the firm in 2013 she has completed her Chartered Leadership Fellow designation through the American College and currently holds a Florida Life, Health and Variable Annuities license in addition to the FINRA Series 6 and Series 63.
As a graduate of The University of Florida, Jenn is a passionate Gator fan who enjoys time with friends and family, reading, and other fitness related activities such as crossfit, yoga, and soccer. She remains active in the Palm Beach community through her volunteer work with Leadership Palm Beach County (Alumni 2016), the Young Professionals of Palm Beach North, Junior Achievement, and local events such as ArtiGras, the Honda Classic, and ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Jenn and her husband, Coleman reside in Palm Beach Gardens and love spending time at the beach with their yellow Labrador, Lily.
Cory Lyon serves as a Financial Advisor at TFG Financial. Cory holds the Series 65 Investment Advisor Representative license. He also holds the 2-15 Life Health & Variable Annuity license in both Florida and in New York. Prior to employment at TFG Financial, Cory was a Financial Advisor at Fortitude Investment in Jupiter, Florida.
As a Financial Advisor, Cory provides customized investment portfolio design and personalized asset management for each client. His holistic approach to wealth management revolves around an analysis of the client's current financial approach to be sure it will fit their individual financial goals. Cory acts as a fiduciary for all his clients.
Cory is engaged in the local business community. He is an active member of the Palm Beach County Estate Planning Council, the BEI Business Enterprise Institute, the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the Palm Beach Young Professionals. He is an inaugural member of the 40 Under 40 Forum.
Cory received his bachelor's degree from Florida State University, and is a member of the Palm Beach County Seminole Alumni Association.
Scott Shrader EA, CFP® has a degree in Finance and International Business from the Pennsylvania State University. He started in the tax industry in 2001 by opening the 586th Liberty Tax Service office. During his tenure with Liberty Tax Service, he opened / operated a total of 16 different offices. He was consistently ranked in the top 50 entities, and had individual offices that ranked in the top 75 new offices nationally, the top 75 second year offices, the top 75 third year offices, and the top 50 growth lists(both on the office and entity level). In 2006, he became an Enrolled Agent (EA) and is able to represent taxpayers in front of the Internal Revenue Service.
Mr. Shrader expanded into the investment arena by obtaining his Series 7 (General Securities Rep) and Series 66 (NASAA-Uniform Combined State Law Exam) licenses in 2003. In 2004, he attended the H.D. Vest Financial Planning Institute in Cherry Hill, NJ. Mr. Shrader went on to complete the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER? certification program through New York University and became a CFP® professional. He is currently the president of Vault Financial, LLC and is personally meeting with clients that are passionate about pursuing their financial dreams.

Business Before Hours: State of the County
Join the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce for our monthly breakfast on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott. This year's State of the County program will feature County Administrator, Verdenia Baker, who will provide an update on accomplishments of the County over the past year as well as plans for the future of the County.
Our Education Committee will host a School Supply Drive during check-in. All proceeds will benefit West Riviera Elementary School. Monetary donations are also welcome. Please consider donating the following items: copy paper, #2 pencils, glue sticks, crayons, notebook paper (both college and wide ruled) and spiral notebooks.
ABOUT VERDENIA BAKER
As County Administrator, Verdenia Baker, a Certified Financial Manager, is responsible for administration of the policies of the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners. She manages the daily operation of county government, which includes more than 6,000 employees and a budget of $4 billion. Palm Beach County is one of the few counties in the nation with AAA bond ratings and has a population of more than 1.3 million persons.
Verdenia began her career with Palm Beach County in 1987 as a Budget Analyst; she then was promoted to Impact Fee Coordinator and eventually became the division director of the County's Financial Management Department. Her experience as a financial manager was a prelude to her promotion to Assistant County Administrator and one year later to Deputy County Administrator. She served as the County's liaison and lead negotiator on the successful recruitment of The Scripps Research Institute resulting in a growing bio-technology industry in Palm Beach County. In addition, she is instrumental in the development and implementation of the Mandatory Inclusionary Workforce Housing Program, Community Land Trust of Palm Beach County and the Growth Tiered System for the County. She was responsible for Redistricting of County Commission Districts in 2000 and 2010.
Verdenia collaborates daily with representatives of other jurisdictions, developers, private industry, civic and community organizations on issues of interest pertaining to county business. She represents the county on regional initiatives involving private and public sector entities on special projects including, but not limited to, two (2) Super Bowls in 2001 and 2007 and the Third and Final Presidential Debate of 2012. Fiduciary responsibilities remain on the top of her agenda as she reviews and approves departmental and agency budgets before passing them to the Board of County Commissioners for approval.
Verdenia holds a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration, Bachelor of Science Degree in Rehabilitative Services, both from Florida State University. She has affiliation with several professional and community organizations including but not limited to serving as the Immediate Past President of the Executive Board of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA), Former President of American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) Treasure Coast Chapter; Member of the Board of Directors of Black Chamber of Commerce; Member of the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, Former Vice Chair and member of the Board of Directors of St. Mary's Hospital; Board Member of the Florida Association of Counties for County Administrators, Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Member of Deacon Ministry Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church; Mentor for the Women of Tomorrow Mentor Program and Former Member of the Board of Directors of the Business Loan Fund of the Palm Beaches; Former member of the Band Parent Association of Suncoast High School. She has received numerous local and national professional and civic awards.

Building Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim Exhibition
In 1943, Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to create this upside-down ziggurat, and over the following sixteen years, the structural design evolved. Ultimately it relied on the ingenuity of on-site workers to realize Wright’s intentions through pioneering construction techniques. Experience history through these recently discovered black and white photos taken by the General Contractor and his superintendent on loan from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. In the main gallery the celebrated architects, Scott Hughes and Jane Davis Doggett (2017 Florida Artist Hall of Fame) show their most celebrated works and architectural models. Docent tours available by appointment.

DOCUMENTARY MOVIE NIGHT – SPECIAL PRESENTATION OF “BAG IT”
Check out our new Documentary Nights! Join the River Center on select evenings for educational and interesting documentaries showcasing a variety of topics. On Friday, January 18th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, we will screen “Bag It.” This film is discusses the effects of plastics on our oceans, environment, and our bodies. We see how our crazy-for-plastic world has finally caught up to us…and what we can do about it. Don’t miss out on this eye-opening event! Registration is required, space is limited. Interested participants are encouraged to bring bug spray and wear comfortable clothing, event is outdoors. Seating is provided, however guests are allowed to bring lawn chairs. Snacks and food are permitted, Alcohol of any kind is NOT allowed at this event.

BOATING SAFELY CLASS
The River Center continues to collaborate with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary “Flotilla 52” to provide a series of Boating Safely Classes targeted specifically to young boaters in our community. These classes are provided through a generous sponsorship by the AustinBlu Foundation, a not-for-profit dedicated to raising awareness and promoting educational programs to improve boater safety. There is no cost for this class, however there is a deposit required to reserve a seat. The deposit of $10 will be refunded in full to all students who complete the class. Recommended for children 12 years and up.

Our Mission: To promote a healthy, active lifestyle and provide organized opportunities for physical fitness, wellness education, and psycho-social empowerment among Breast Cancer Survivors and their supporters through the sport of dragon boating.
Team SOS PBC members are from all walks of life and range in age from 30s to 70s with varied interests and fitness levels. Each of us is a powerful example that women can lead a full and vigorous life after treatment for breast cancer. SOS PBC offers an active, health-giving, life affirming opportunity for breast cancer survivors. We are a survivor group whose focus is on living, rather than on the disease that brought us together.

2019 Race for the Cure
This important annual event raises significant funds for the breast cancer movement, thanks to supporters and survivors around the world who step up and take action by fundraising for the cause. Registration opens at 5:30 AM. The Race start time will be Women's and Men's Timed 5K- 7:30 AM and the Team Walk at 8:30 AM. Registration fees start at: $30 - Adults & Survivors, $10 - Youth and $40 - Virtual. Fees will increase by $5 starting December 1st through January 25th. Fees will increase an additional $5 the day of Race.

PROJECT WILD EDUCATOR WORKSHOP
Calling all pre-school, grade school, homeschooling, and informal educators! The River Center is hosting a Project WILD and Growing Up WILD Educator Workshop open to all on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 9:00am-3:00pm. The Project WILD K-12 Curriculum Activity Guide focuses on wildlife and habitat. Growing Up WILD is an early childhood education program that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them. Through a wide range of activities and experiences, Growing Up WILD provides an early foundation for developing positive impressions about the natural world and lifelong social and academic skills. This is a free event and all materials are provided. Space is limited, registration is required by contacting Education@LRECD.org or 561-743-7123. This educator training is open to anyone interested in gaining more opportunities to learn about teaching outdoor wildlife activities like formal teachers, non-formal nature center educators, youth group leaders, homeschooling parents, volunteers, scout troop leaders, or citizens that work with young people. The goal of Project WILD is to assist students of any age in developing awareness, knowledge, skills, and commitment to result in informed decisions, responsible behavior, and constructive actions concerning wildlife and the environment. ABOUT BARBARA
Barbara Abernathy, PhD, LMHC, is the President and CEO of the Pediatric Oncology Support Team, Inc. (POST), a nonprofit helping children and their families cope with the devastating effects of cancer. She has 30 years? experience in nonprofits, 20 of those years at POST. She has a PhD in Counselor Education and Leadership from Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Master of Education in Counseling from the University of South Alabama, A Master of Science in Biology from FAU, and a Bachelor of Education in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University. She is adjunct faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and FAU. Other professional experience includes pediatric AIDS, bereavement, family counseling, parent education, and treatment of severely abused children.
Barbara has presented as an invited speaker at many national and international professional conferences and numerous community and school settings. Her interview with Heal magazine was published in the Spring 2018 issue under the title: ?Surviving Survivorship.? She has authored three scholarly peer-reviewed articles.
She recently won the Heroes in Medicine Award presented by the Palm Beach Medical Society and the 2018 MPN Heroes award given at the American Society of Hematology in December 2017 for being a patient advocate.

Business After Hours at Venture X – Palm Beach Gardens “The Future of Workspace”
The Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce invites you to join them for their monthly Business After Hours at Venture X - Palm Beach Gardens "The Future of Workspace". This month's event will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Guests of our Business After Hours event will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and the opportunity to network with other professionals in the local business community.
Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will benefit Quantum House selected by our Ambassador Committee. Every month we highlight a member of our Chamber that is a non-profit by inviting them to share their mission with our Business After Hours' guests. Remember to bring cash to be a part of the fundraising!

Coupon registrations will be treated the same as cash registrations, and adhere to the event cancellation policy (below). If you register with a coupon and are a no-show, your coupon will still be collected and cannot be used for a future event.
Event Cancellation Policy:
A notice of cancellation must be received by email within 72 hours (3 business days) prior to the event. NO verbal cancellations will be accepted. All cancellation notices received within 72 hours (3 business days) prior to the event will be given an event credit of equal value. Event credits will be applied upon request and are good for up to 1 year from the purchase date. There are NO REFUNDS.
NOTE:
ArtiGras Tickets, Loggerhead Triathlon Registrations, and The Leadership Awards Dinner do not qualify for an event credit upon cancellation. Contributions or gifts to the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.

Manatee Lagoon is pleased to offer these Mindful Moments health and wellness classes to the general public, as part of its effort to serve the local community. As possible and weather permitting, all classes are offered outside alongside the beautiful Lake Worth Lagoon. On occasion, if indoor space is not available when the facility has been rented for a private meeting or event, a class may be canceled due to inclement weather.
